Overland Park Property Tax Rebate

Helping eligible residents of Overland Park in need of assistance continue to afford to live in their homes
The City included $220,000 in the 2026 budget for the property tax rebate program and will disburse the funding in up to two application rounds. Community Capital Fund is the City’s partner in receiving and processing applications and determining rebate awards.
Applications for the next cycle of rebates open on Jun. 1 and will close on Jul. 15.
Community Capital Fund will never request payment or personal bank information as part of the Overland Park Tax Rebate Program—beware of scams and report suspicious activity.

To be eligible to apply, you must:
Be an Overland Park resident.
Live in and own your home.
Be current on your property taxes.
Meet low-income limits from the Department of Housing and Urban Development.
Property taxes must be paid in full prior to the City providing a rebate. Most residents will pay their property taxes in two installments. The first installment in December 2025 and the second installment in May 2026. Both payments must be paid before the City will provide the rebate.
NOTE: Only one rebate eligible per household.

If the number of applications exceeds the available funding for the property tax rebate program, the City will use the following priority criteria to ensure those with the greatest need receive assistance.
PRIORITY CRITERIA INCLUDE
1. Income: Household income at or below HUD’s very low-income or extremely low-income limits.
2. Appraised value: Homes that appraise lower than Overland Park’s previous year’s average property value. The average home value in Overland Park is $498,188.
3. Additional need: Veterans, disabled people and senior citizens over the age of 65.
4. Long-time residence: Homeowners that have stayed at their current address for more than 15 years.
5. Priority neighborhoods: Homeowners living in one of the City’s risk-watch neighborhoods.

Eligible applicants must complete and submit the application (with all required attachments) on or before July 15, 2026.
Application Timeline:
Residents are encouraged to apply by the first-round deadline to ensure consideration.
June 1, 2026: Application opens
June 1 – July 15, 2026: Application support is provided by Community Capital Fund staff
July 15, 2026: Applications are due by 11:59 pm (CST)
August: Approved applicants will receive first-round rebates as a check by mail
If funding is still available, incomplete applications will be provided with the option of submitting missing information and a second application round may open.

Community Capital Fund worked with Overland Park to confirm the launch of this pilot program in November of 2024. The presentation was held at a public meeting with the Finance, Administration and Economic Development Committee and may be viewed online.
