Up to $100,000 Available for Grassroots Crime Prevention Efforts in the Kansas City Region
Community Capital Fund (CCF), with support from the Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation, has opened applications for its Crime Prevention Fund (CPF), a grant opportunity designed to strengthen proven, community-based efforts to prevent violence, reduce harm, and improve neighborhood safety across the Kansas City region.
Through the Crime Prevention Fund, eligible grassroots organizations may apply for grants of up to $100,000 to expand or strengthen existing crime and violence prevention strategies. The fund is focused on supporting organizations that are already doing this work on the ground and are ready to deepen their impact.
The Crime Prevention Fund prioritizes initiatives rooted in community knowledge and evidence-informed approaches, including but not limited to:
Community-based violence intervention and prevention, such as street outreach, conflict mediation, and violence interruption
Domestic violence prevention and survivor safety, including advocacy, safety planning, and trauma-informed supports
Youth prevention and positive development through mentoring, restorative practices, and after-school or summer programming
Reentry and stabilization supports that reduce recidivism, including case management and life-skills coaching
Crisis response and victim/survivor support, both hospital- and community-based
Community engagement and prevention events connected to an ongoing prevention strategy
Training, tools, and operational capacity that strengthen prevention delivery
Cross-agency partnerships that improve coordination, referrals, and collaborative prevention efforts
Eligibility Requirements
To be eligible, applicant organizations must be based in Jackson County or Clay County, Missouri, or Wyandotte County or Johnson County, Kansas, and serve residents in low- to moderate-income neighborhoods within those same counties. Organizations must:
Be a state-registered nonprofit entity

Funding will not support public infrastructure projects, religious programming, lobbying or political campaigns, for-profit entities, sole proprietorships, or proposals that do not align with the fund’s purpose.
