Applications for Round 2 of Overland Park’s Property Tax Rebate Program Due Oct. 15

Applications for Overland Park’s property tax rebate program reopened today, Sept. 15, giving eligible residents another opportunity to receive financial relief on their City property taxes. The deadline to apply for Round 2 is Oct. 15, 2025, at 11:59 p.m. (CST).

The Overland Park City Council created the program earlier this year, setting aside $200,000 in the 2025 budget to help residents most in need continue to afford to live in their homes. Community Capital Fund is the City’s partner in receiving and processing applications and determining rebate awards.

Eligibility

To qualify for the rebate, applicants must:

  • Be an Overland Park resident.

  • Live in and own their home.

  • Be current on their property taxes.

  • Meet low-income limits set by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD).

Property taxes must be paid in full before the City provides a rebate. For most residents, that means making the first installment in December 2024 and the second installment in May 2025.

Priority Criteria

If applications exceed the available funding, the City will award rebates based on priority criteria:

  1. Income: Household income at or below HUD’s very low-income or extremely low-income limits.

  2. Appraised value: Homes that appraise lower than Overland Park’s average property value of $498,188.

  3. Additional needs: Veterans, people with disabilities, and senior citizens over the age of 65.

  4. Long-time residence: Homeowners who have stayed at their current address for more than 15 years.

  5. Priority neighborhoods: Homeowners living in one of the City’s risk-watch neighborhoods.
