AltCap, a Model C Partner, Celebrates a Decade of Impact at AltCap Your Biz 2025

As one of CCF’s Model C partners, AltCap is a prime example of how mission-driven organizations can thrive with the right support. Model C fiscal sponsorship provides organizations with financial, legal, and operational infrastructure so they can focus on their mission rather than administrative hurdles. AltCap’s recent milestone—the 10th annual AltCap Your Biz (ACYB) Pitch Competition—perfectly illustrates the power of community-focused entrepreneurship.

More than 200 attendees filled Union Station’s City Stage Theatre for a sold-out evening celebrating ACYB’s Decade of Impact and the small-business innovation shaping Kansas City. Ten local entrepreneurs—selected from dozens of applicants—took the stage to compete for a record $60,000 in prizes, showcasing creativity, strong business models, and commitment to their communities.

  • $5,000 Fan Favorite: HerCafe — KC’s first mobile matcha cart, building community one hand-whisked drink at a time, founded by Yasmen Hassen and Lujyn Elsayed.

Other Top 10 finalists included AuraMed Spa and Wellness, Bliss Books & Wine, Dog Mom Club, Golazo, ICE Studios School of Dance, Project IOTA, and Someday Sunday—representing a wide range of industries, from wellness and education to retail and entertainment.

A Taste of KC

To celebrate the 10th anniversary, the event featured the first-ever ACYB Food Tour, highlighting AltCap borrowers and past winners: Take Care by OLEO, Billie’s Grocery, Fetterman’s Deli, Kobi Q, Urban Cafe, and 2024 Grand Prize winner Brown Suga*. The culinary showcase made the evening even more memorable.

Powered by Community

AltCap thanked sponsors PNC Bank, Academy Bank, Lead Bank, UMB Bank, the KC Chamber, and the Bank of Labor, as well as community partners KC G.I.F.T. and Global Entrepreneurship Week Kansas City. Emcee Katie Gilchrist and the1994project helped make the night fun, engaging, and unforgettable.
