Supporting mission-aligned community development.

Building community.

The Community Capital Fund (CCF) supports local community development and social entrepreneurship through its Fiscal Sponsorship program. CCF’s Fiscal Sponsorship program, which utilizes a Model C (grantor-grantee structure), provides an alternative to starting a nonprofit for mission-aligned, community development projects in the Greater Kansas City region.

Social entrepreneurs selected for this program are able to seek grants and tax-deductible donations without having their own 501(c)(3) status, thus increasing the capacity and impact of their projects. To apply, download and complete the CCF Fiscal Sponsorship Guidelines and Application. It is required that you schedule time to meet with the CCF Program Manager to discuss your project prior to submitting your application.

Yvonne Starks Wilson Park Capital Campaign

During Women’s History Month, Dunbar Heart of the City Neighborhood Association will  recognize the impact of Senator Yvonne Starks Wilson on the citizens and landscape of Kansas City.  Born on March 22, 1929, Senator Wilson lived a life filled with contributions of love, wisdom, hard work, and sacrifice for her family, friends and community.  She left an indelible mark on Kansas City and the State of Missouri as an educator, politician and champion for services to support women and families.

About Yvonne Starks Wilson Park:

Yvonne Starks Wilson Park (YSWP) (formerly known as Liberty Park) is located at East 34th Street Terrace and Stadium Drive in the historic Dunbar neighborhood. The 17.78 acre park it is the only park out of the 222 parks in the Kansas City Parks system named after an African American woman.  This 122 year old park was created to provide a space for African American residents to enjoy their recreational pursuits without threat or concern of ongoing racial tensions in 1920s Kansas City.  On September 11, 2018, the Board of Parks and Recreation Commissioners adopted a resolution to rename Liberty Park after former State Senator Yvonne Starks Wilson. YSWP is one of 38 parks within KC Parks Quality Life Improvement District (QLID) and is located in the 64128 zip code where resident life expectancy is 20 years less than any  other zip code in Kansas City.
