Community Capital Fund

Congratulations to our Fall 2015 Neighborhood Opportunity Grant recipients! The following four projects were selected by CCF's Grant Review Committee because of the impact they will have in the community, the capacity of the organization to succesfully carry out the project, and their ability to build neighborhood capacity.

  • Black Family Technology Awareness Association: KUAW (Knowledge Understanding and Wisdom) FM Community Radio Station - a low power FM radio station to inform the community on events, opportunities, and education available to them locally
  • Communities Creating Opportunity (CCO): Youth Leadership Development Cohort (YLDC) - to identify high school students from Kansas City's urban core and immerse them in a leadership development curriculum with emphasis on community organizing, leadership, policy and civic engagement
  • Connecting for Good: Public Computer Center in LAMP building - a community-access computer center, classroom, and offices at the newly renovated LAMP facility at Linwood and Michigan
  • Marlborough Community Coalition: Hydrangea Garden and Community Plaza - a vacant lot at 8112 Paseo will be transformed into hydrangea garden and flexible community gathering space

All grant recipients will run their crowdfunding campaigns this next winter and spring to raise a portion of their grant award. All Neighborhood Opportunity Grant recipients run one-month crowdfunding campaigns as part of their grant award – but they don’t do it alone! Stay tuned for more information on how you can support these projects!
